Auto~Star Celebrates 25th Anniversary

MEDICINE HAT, ALBERTA – Auto~Star Compusystems, a Medicine Hat based technology company, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this month. Auto~Star began as a home-based business in 1982 when two brothers, Hugh and Ken Arthur, had a need for an inventory control system for their car dealership. In a short time, word of mouth spread, and other car dealerships were wanting the “Auto~Star” product. Not long after, the brothers were approached by a major pharmacy retailer to develop a similar solution and made the jump from car dealerships into the developing products that would help retailers manage all aspects of their business better.
Today, Auto~Star’s customers include thousands of pharmacies, grocery stores and convenience stores across Canada, the United States, Puerto Rico and Trinidad. The company has kept its roots in Medicine Hat with the technical teams, call centre and management team based here. Auto~Star’s successes go beyond their customers as they have won a number of awards in the past few years. These include:

To commemorate the occasion, Auto~Star will be hosting a wine and cheese event to celebrate all those who have helped the company achieve this milestone. The festivities will take place on the evening of Tuesday, October 23rd at the Cypress Club of Medicine Hat. Robert Symmonds, president of Auto~Star, will be the master of ceremonies for the event. Speeches from various community representatives and co-founder, Hugh Arthur, will be followed by a slideshow. Attendees will include management, staff and shareholders from Auto~Star, representatives from the Medicine Hat community, and a number of Auto~Star’s business partners from Toronto, Seattle, Chicago and Puerto Rico, to name a few.
